Woody, Buzz, and the rest of Andy's toys haven't been played with in years. With Andy about to go to college, the gang find themselves accidentally left at a nefarious day care center. The toys must band together to escape and return home to Andy.

A beautifully crafted story about loyalty, letting go, and sacrificial love, culminating in one of animation's most moving depictions of friendship facing hardship together.

For discernment
The emotional core is genuinely moving and morally rich — loyalty that will not abandon a friend, the grace of letting go as a child grows up, and a near-death moment where the toys simply join hands and face the fire together rather than save themselves. Two smaller things a viewer can note. A running gag makes Ken effeminate and vain for laughs (his high heels 'out' him, jokes about his ascot), a bit of played-for-comedy sexual-identity ribbing, alongside a couple of vague innuendos and Big Baby being called 'mongo,' a slur for the intellectually disabled. And the furnace and landfill-shredder sequences are intensely perilous — among the most genuinely frightening in any Pixar film — while the ending's farewell is designed to wring tears. The virtues of faithfulness and sacrificial love clearly carry the film; the humor's occasional coarseness and the intensity are what a discerning viewer weighs against them.
